This cast-iron marvel of construction and egeneering was to Berlin what the Eifel tower is to Paris and Brooklyn bridge to New York .

Berlin.

The iconic cast-iron Hochbahn crossing the Anhalter Bahn over the Landwehrkanal. In the background the track is cutting through the block of buildings holding the Hochbahn powerhouse. The signature sadly near to illegible: it could be reading Otto Antoine, aka “The painter of Berlin”. (Danke Thomas !).

After WW-II the damaged Hochbahn was repaired, the Anhalter railway dismantled, the iconic Hochbahn bridge was replaced in 1990 by a functional design structure.

And a choice of examples of Antoine’s many Berlin impressions to illustrate.
