Artist mostly remembered by her illustrations for “Knabbermäuschen” a popular children’s book. The illustrations strongly reminding of the Dutch equivalent “Het Muizenboek” by “Hens” Clinge Doorenbos and illustrated by Dutch illustrator Nans van Leeuwen who is also represented in this collection.
Johanna Bemmann also proved to be a keen etcher considering her etching “In der Schencke” no doubt inspired by one of Adriaan van Ostade’s several inn scenes of feasting and drunken peasants.
Her print was published by the Balder Presse (“Rückseitige Verlags Nummer”) but is also found with her signature.

Dear print lover, passing-by visitor and reader:
While this new gallery-museum site is under construction (being build-up, stocked and arranged) priority must be given to first add all the represented artists in the index with works from the collection and if possible with the examples from the archives.
During construction the site is open to visitors, questions, feedback and suggestions.
Gerrie
