“Erinnerung” (ed. 7/50)

Reclining woman in a temple.

Amélie Breling was also a sculptor and ceramist and had been a student of Aristide Maillol in Paris. She became sister-in-law of Otto Modersohn. Another woodblock print by her (a dancing woman) is kept in the collections of “Kunstverein Fisherhude”. The influence of Matisse whom she no doubt has met while staying in Paris in her reclining lady is obvious: he did many “odalisques”
