It was until the summer of 2023 a chance was offered to represent this former agricultural engineer who became fascinated by Japanese prints after attending an exhibition in Cairo in 1965. Like Emil Orlik before him, he travelled to Japan and was taught by master printmaker Shiro Kasamatsu. This print is suspected to represent a not identified view in the Adriatic (or Italy). Some 30 prints by Dechert came to light so far, so this display does not aim to be complete. Dechert tried various styles and experimented with various topics.

Shiro Kasamatsu (1898-1991)

This is a nice place to honour Dechert’s master with some of my favourite prints by him.
