Pont Neuf & Louvre seen from Pont St. Michel

Signed Fehr it assumed (….) this etching was created by Friedrich Fehr. Besides a well known painter he was also an important teacher in his own painting school (also for women) in Munich and later appointed head of the painting classes in Karlsruhe Art Academy which he lead until his retirement in 1923. Here he emphasised on the importance of lithography and etching. There is (I could not find) no reference of his visit or stay in Paris (he did visit Italy) and examples of his etchings are rare.

1) An identical view was drawn and etched by Maxime Lalane (1827-1886)

2) Jules Flandrin (1871 - 1947)

3 - 4 ) Henri Matisse  (1869-1954
