Not widely known Swedish painter and printmaker. Both prints were imported from Sweden, the second example was acquired in July 2023. It is titled “Fiesole”, a little Italian town overlooking Florence. Swiss sculptor Arnold Böcklin (1827-1901) lived the last 40 years of his long life in Fiesole. At its heights is the 15. century Villa Medici, although not directly evident (comparing with available contemporary foto’s) she probably depicted the villa which is also shown in a 15. Century mural by Dominico Ghirlandaio (1448-1494) shortly after its completion.
