Marie Gautier  (1867 - 1960)

“Rats panachées”

Marie Gautier was the daughter of painter and printmaker Armand Désiré Gautier. She is known to have been in the entourage of Siegfried Bing, the famous (Japanese and Chinese) art dealer in Paris. Finding and acquiring an original work by this artist (her etchings are in high demand by collectors and fetch high prices) is the reward for getting up early and roaming car-boots and flea markets. Marie Gautier was heavily influenced by Japanese art.
