Gaston Gérard (1849 - 1929)

“Nues de Dos”

Two “eau forte” studies of classic standing female nudes by this forgotten French painter and etcher. They were found together and obviously managed to stay a pair for a century in someones care in France…something that does not leave the passionate collector unmoved. They stylishly remind of similar works by Henri Fantin Latour (1836-1904). Gaston Gérard today is an obscured French artist who’s new and interesting short biography was created following the acquisition and can be found in the book accompanying the collection.
