These 4 prints (3 woodblocks and 1 lithographic print) represent Austrian-American printmaker Katherine Gericke and were acquired from the collection of Boston collectioneur and print specialist Tom Clemens who also happens to be my collecting best friend in the New World and provider of many works by German women artists returning to the Old World. Katherine, although born, raised and educated in Vienna as an artist fled the invading Nazi to America were her father had triumphed as conductor of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. A drawing (found with 2 other drawings in the Brian Hannon collection), a sketch of an Italian mountain village, seems to have been the design for her woodblock print.
