Willem Grondhout is an undeservedly little known and forgotten Dutch painter and etcher. Stumbling over (and acquiring) his “La Seine, Notre-Dame et Bouquinistes” followed by creating his short biography some interesting details came to light (See the accompanying this website and collections “Life of the Artists” book of short-biographies).

Further research revealed less than a dozen or so of his etchings and painting auctioned and offered over the past two decades.

He visited and worked in London and Paris. His exquisite Paris etchings match the finest British, French and American etchers of city views of his time. Here, in the archival section you’ll find scratched together what could be found in the www.
