Odalisque
Painter and sculptor. Born in Leeuwarden, Friesland as son of book keeper Johannes Janz. Klein (1876-1960) and Sjieuwke Bouwes Schaap (1875-1950). Little known and forgotten self-taught artist working in Leeuwarden and Haarlem. Partner of painter Janny Tollenaar (1923-2013). Klein taught several young Dutch artists. Also spelled his family name as Kleijn
Member of “Kunstkring Haarlem, De Acht, Genootschap van beeldende kunstenaars 'Kunst zij ons doel”, “De Groep” and “Arti et Amicitiae”.
This strongly resembling Matisse’s “Odalisque” before a window is printed on thin on Japan paper.
