Elisabeth was the sister of important Vienna painter and printmaker Oskar Laske. This no doubt rare and important 1914 commemorative print with Saint George and the dragon appeared in an auction in Vienna.  It was created in the same year the BUGRA the central thema around which this collection was build.  The VDBÖ was founded in 1910 the same year their firts exhibition was held. It is the only example of a “Holzschnitt” print by this artist that ever came to light.

(The connection or meaning Saint (Sainte ?) George and the Vienna Women Artists Association is not yet clear)

Her brother Oskar is best remembered by his colourful paintings and lithographic prints and occasionally is known also as a woodblock printmaker (left).

His Tunis litographic print was published by the Vienna “Verlag der Gesellschaft für vervielfaltigende Künst”  in magazine “Die Graphische Künste” in 1932.

Oskar Laske visited the Netherlands before WW-I.
