Emmi von Lilljeström (1901 - 1955)

EvL

This large and very accurate woodblock of Stockholm is probably her best known print while the etching was created after her trip to Sicily. The traditional Baltic fishing boat “Seemöwe (sea gul) rests in “Kolberger Fischerhafen”. Kolberg and Leba were the best known and picturesque German Baltic (fishing) ports, frequently visited by many German artists.

The second print in the archive is titled “Hafen von Sciacca (Sezilien)”. With the etching they are the proof of her trip to Sicily. The resting fishing boat possibly was also seen in Sciacca. (See also printmaker Valerie Praschniker who is also known to have travelled Sicily and created a colour woodblock of Sciacca.
