Garison Machinjili (b.1964)

Ponts de Paris

Some 25 years ago this sculptures, found its way from Zimbabwe to the Netherlands and eventually to me. The larger torso is cut from brownish-black locally mined Serpentine ( 23 Kg.) and smaller from beautiful green Serpentine (40cm., 13 Kg)

The decision not making a choice was never regretted.

Only recently the name artist sculptor was discovered and it was learned these stylised female torsos are his trademark: several other examples could be found in auctions and galleries world-wide: from America to Australia.
