Besides being an artist professionally Joan Francois Obbes was a lieutenant naval cartographer. Today almost completely obscured he was a fine drawer and etcher with an obvious love for our “common” garden birds. Read the new artist biography in the accompanying Book of Biographies “Le Vite” and learn more also about his two illuster sons-in-law. These 2 common and one blue tit (just friends or adoption family were found in a junk shop.   …. Although in our gardens common tits usually behave dominantly, foster parenting cases among these two sub-species have been described:. J.Fr. Obbes also worked as an illustrator for the official Dutch Ornithological society. In this drawing he could very well be showing his own observations.
